Shih Tzu stands over sleeping infant – then this dog does the sweetest thing

How cute is this little pup? Her mom woke up when she felt the bed move and saw that her daughter had kicked off the blankets in her sleep. But she had no reason to worry because her precious Shih Tzu had it covered! The pup immediately went into action and nudged the blanket back on top of the little one.
According to Animal Planet, the Shih Tzu was originally bred to be a companion, and it shows in this video! He seems utterly devoted to that little girl, making sure she stays happy and warm, even in her sleep. Shih Tzus are extremely loving and loyal towards their owners, always happy to see them, play with them, or curl up next to them to sleep.

The history of the Shih Tzu is actually pretty cool. Did you know that "Shih Tzu" means "lion dog" in Chinese? The American Kennel Club explains that this is because the Shih Tzu is originally believed to originate in China, and was the house pet for most of the Ming Dynasty!
