Family brings pup home and films him over 1 year. Watch the compilation

Puppies experience and learn so much in their first year.
According to the article “Stages of puppy development” on Dogtime.com, in the first three months of their lives, they basically find out what being a dog is all about from their mom and littermates. Even though mom weans her pups at six to eight weeks of age, the pups learn social skills (they act as role models for each other) when mom leaves them alone for longer periods of time. They learn things like how to read each other’s body language, how far is pushing it too far and how not to bite too hard. Playing with their siblings gives them the chance to learn boundaries from the best teachers – other dogs.
Hopefully, the breeder where you purchase your puppy helps in his development as well, by personally interacting with him as soon as possible and letting you and your family get to know him and he know you, before you take him home. The Humane Society of the United States has published a great article on “How to Find a Responsible Dog Breeder”.
