This spot on the map is home to 'cat island' where cats are the majority. Take a visit

Did you know there was a place where cats outnumber humans six to one? We'll be right back, we have to go there. Immediately.
This tiny island is in Japan, and the cats are cared for by an elderly fishing population. The cats basically have the run of the place, and people love to come see them!

Would you believe us if we told you this is not the only cat island in Japan? All About Japan reveals that there are actually eleven cat islands! The one featured in the video is Aoshima, which is hard to get to and has very few amenities - that doesn't stop the true cat lovers, though. There's a ferry that goes there only twice a day, no hotels, and very few places to eat, so it's strictly a day-trip kind of place.
These cats have plenty of room to roam, so they probably get along pretty well. But a lot of people struggle with getting cats to get along in smaller spaces, like introducing a new cat to an older cat. So how do you do it? According to Northern Illinois Cat Clinic, don't ever leave them alone to fight it out! It may seem like the least fussy way to go about it, but it can (and probably will) lead to life-long resentment and fighting.
Instead, they recommend slowly introducing them to each other, focusing mostly on letting them smell each other with no pressure. You can do this by rubbing one cat with a towel and then taking it to a separate room with the other cat to let them smell it, or letting them smell each other through a solid door. Once they're used to each other (and you've given it plenty of time), you can increase proximity.
How much do you want to visit this island? It sounds like paradise to us! If you've already been there, or to one of Japan's other cat islands, what was it like? Also, share this with your fellow cat-loving friends, and maybe plan a trip together (or at least daydream about it).
