Dog comes out of nowhere to help a woman in a car wreck, and it's incredible

Shannon Lorio lives in a small town called Pavo, Georgia, where she was born and raised. The rural area has curvy, winding roads that run alongside the woods, and that's when something horrible happened.

After a fight with her husband, Shannon had gone on for a drive to cool down.

Fishtailing through a turn, Shannon lost control of her car and was thrown from the front seat through the back window onto the trunk.
It would have ended up tragically. That us, until the dog came out of nowhere.

Shannon was disoriented and in a lot of pain, but the worst part was that nobody driving by would see her wrecked car and find her. She couldn't move at all.
She noted, "I don’t know when I came to, but when I did come to, I felt his huge presence. I could feel his breath. The dog — I don’t know how he came across me, but I thank God that he did."
She passed out, and when she came to, she was aware that she wasn't alone.
A dog—that Shannon says she didn't know "from Adam's house cat"—pulled her free of the car and dragged her more than 100 feet to the road. Shannon said, "He kept tugging and pulling ... and he would not give up." That's when the story gets interesting.

Strangers passing by saw the predicament Shannon was in and stopped to help. She was able to tell them what happened and asked them to call her husband. Then she passed out again. When she revived, she found herself in the hospital and was told that the injuries to her head had resulted in a brain bleed. Had the dog not come along when he did, she probably would have died.
No one knew where the dog came from, if he had been trained, or just wanted to help a fellow creature in trouble. The rest of his story is just as exciting as his encounter with Shannon.

Today, Hero is a certified search and rescue dog and has saved numerous more lives. It turns out Shannon was the first of many great feats.
What does Shannon say about Hero now? "I told him you'll always be my hero ... That’s what everybody started to call him. And that’s how he got his name."
