Dog was chained in the freezing cold for 4 years, until he's saved by an angel

For four long years, Diesel spent every day chained in the backyard of his owner's home in The Yukon, Canada. In addition to living through the hot summers and freezing winters (temperatures dropping as cold as-40 degrees), all outdoors, he was forced to fight off other dogs and endure threats of execution from his owner.
At one point Diesel was kicked in the head by a horse, losing most of his teeth in the process. Needless to say, things looked grim. However, little did Diesel know, his fate would soon change.

When he was found in 2009, he still had blood in his fur and he was trying to manage the cold conditions by lifting one foot at a time off of the freezing ground.
Animal Advocates first became aware of Diesel's situation when they received a heartbreaking letter from a concerned neighbor.
"Hello AAS ... I am writing because I've lost all hope in finding a home for a dog named Diesel ... He ended up on a chain and never gets off it. Never. This year, his owner called me and asked me if I could find a home for Diesel because he realized that the life he is living is no life for a dog-- he said he is going to shoot Diesel if I don't get a home for him ..."
"He is matted terribly, he stinks something awful, and his eyes and nose don't look all that healthy ... He seemed a very sweet dog until he was relegated to a life on the end of a chain... "
Fortunately, Diesel was saved. Animal Advocates removed him from his home and took him to a rescue center where professionals nursed him back to health. Medical professionals discovered an untreated broken jaw, torn tongue, infection, and arthritis. After receiving medical care, he was treated to a bit of pampering!
Diesel had to undergo behavior and manners training to prep him for living in a home. Bills for his health and mental care tallied well over $5,000. Despite his horrid circumstances, Diesel remained a sweet dog with a good spirit and kind disposition, according to Animal Advocates.
After some time in foster care, Diesel was eventually adopted by a loving family, where he spent his last few years playing with other dogs and exploring nature without a chain. He died of age-related cancer in 2014, according to Animal Advocates.
