Cop found a dog in bad shape while on duty, proceeds to make the sweetest gesture

It’s a bit unusual for a policeman to bring his work home with him, but that’s exactly what Cleveland cop Officer John Lyons did recently. In fact, it’s something his wife has gotten used to over the years.
After patrolling the streets in Cleveland, Officer Lyons sometime brings a stray home to recuperate before finding it a forever home. This time it was a Mastiff mix.

And she was pregnant, too! In bad shape, Lyons knew he couldn’t ignore her needs. After his shift ended, he took the very pregnant momma dog to Westpark Animal Hospital, his partner in saving these unfortunate street animals.
This is a normal part of this policeman’s work, although admittedly outside the parameters of his job. Nevertheless, Lyons often brings strays he finds to the jail until his shift is over. Then he works to find them homes.
"In the course of basic patrol, unfortunately, there is a need out here for helping stray animals and if coming across them. [If] the night permits and we can help a stray animal out, I'll get it and if it needs vet care I run it up to the good folks at Westpark Animal Hospital and they help me out," said Lyons.
After attention from the veterinarians, Lyons took this momma home to have her puppies. With the help of Amy’s Adoptables (a rescue) and his wife, Lyons assisted the dog, whom he named Clarice, to deliver seven puppies. Mom and pups would live in Lyons’ garage until they were old enough to be adopted.
