3 dogs were just dumped out in the street. Luckily, their fate took a big turn

It was a fate that no living creature deserves. Three Chihuahuas were abandoned in a parking lot in South Central Los Angeles. The dogs had moved into the corner of a fast food parking lot, huddled against the curb.
Hope for Paws rescue received a distressing phone call about the dogs' situation, and they moved in quickly to try to help these poor souls. Upon closer inspection, it was clear the dogs suffered from malnutrition; their ribs were easy to see against their taut skin.

The Hope for Paws rescuers approached the dogs patiently and quietly, offering tidbits of food. First, the male dog came forward, sniffing cautiously. Then he took a gentle, hesitant bite of the food.
Following the male dog's lead, the larger of the two female dogs came up to a rescuer to nibble some food as well.
Finally, the smallest chihuahua came forward timidly to eat some of the proffered food.

In the video below, the male dog stands still while the rescuer gently pets him, and the dog seems stunned to receive such loving care and kind words from a person.
A woman in the neighborhood stopped by to check on and feed the dogs every day. The dogs' former owner had just dumped them in the lot, according to the woman. The Hope for Paws rescuers thanked her for helping to keep the dogs alive.

The rescue team used food to lure the two females into a cage. The male dog was captured with a gentle snare, and although he was surprised at first, he quickly calmed down under the care of the rescuer. The dogs showed their gratitude for their rescue with smiling faces and wagging tails.

The three Chihuahuas were named Brooklyn, Marty, and little Penny. They were taken back to Hope for Paws, bathed and groomed, and treated with the love and care they deserved. They were happy to wag their tails and give kisses to the kind people from Hope for Paws.

Sadly, four days after being rescued, Penny, the littlest Chihuahua, passed away from heart failure. Everyone at Hope for Paws was devastated by her loss but were glad that Penny had spent the last days of her life surrounded by warmth and love.

Brooklyn and Marty went to a foster home arranged through another rescue, Wags and Walks, where they were eventually adopted together and given a permanent "home sweet home!"
