A popular adage is often misquoted to say “Music soothes the savage beast” (it’s actually the savage breast), but in this case, the misquote is apropos.
In the video below, a person recording a melody being played on a tuba gets a bit of drama in his movie when someone strolls into the frame with his beautiful Golden Retriever.
The dog seems captivated by the music and stops to listen.
Apparently, his owner was not as enamored with the sound as the dog was, because he turns to walk away. Only, the dog isn’t finished listening to the song.
A tug on the leash does not convince the dog that it’s time to go. He simply refuses, and sits down.
His owner tries one more time, but the dog insists on staying by lying down on the ground. What’s he going to do? That’s a heavy dog to try to drag!
As the owner gives up and stands waiting for the dog to change his mind, people start paying attention to the beautiful animal.
Soon he has a crowd around him to compete with the musician’s!
Finally, the song is over, and the dog immediately sits up…
...and then rises to his feet. Ready to continue his walk, he says goodbye to his own audience.
This is an unusual event. Although dogs seem to enjoy music, they don’t usually stage a sit-in to assert their preference for listening to music as opposed to going for a stroll. What do you think? Was the dog listening to the music, or was he just tired? Tell us in the comments!
