Cat walks into firehouse one day & decides for himself he has to stay (7+ photos)

Sometimes animals know right where they belong. That seems to be the case with Flame, a ginger-and-white cat who walked into a firehouse one day and decided that this would be his new home.
The Belmont Fire Department in Greenville, South Carolina, wasn't looking for a new resident, but he showed up regardless.

When Chief Anthony Segars first saw the cat lounging around the firehouse, he thought it was amusing. But his firehouse crew had already decided that this cat, named Flame, wasn't going anywhere.
Flame was starving when he wandered into the firehouse. He marched into the kitchen and raided all the cabinets for something to eat. Some of the firemen offered Flame some leftover fried chicken in the refrigerator, and he scarfed it down right away.
From that point on, Flame became an official part of the Belmont Fire Department family.
Flame spends his days prowling the firehouse, watching out for his beloved firefighters, and, of course, eating. He loves to engage with the firemen and firewomen by "helping" them with chores around the department, as well as giving them a mode of stress relief after a hard day of putting out fires.
The firehouse kitty is a confident cat who is unbothered whenever sirens and noises go off. He is a beloved member of the fire department, and he even gets tucked into his bed at night!
While Flame seems to have a perfect deal going here, what he provides his firehouse friends is beyond price. He offers comfort from a job that is stressful, and at times, tragic and heartbreaking.
Flame was indeed destined to be a part of these firefighters' lives.
Flame's fame as a firehouse cat has earned him his own Instagram page as well as a video spot with Jackson Galaxy. Flame the "Arson Cat" has found his place in life, and we're so happy for him and his friends!
