The players of the recreational hockey team Gwangyang Crazy Eagles in South Korea were startled to walk in for a weekly Sunday practice on May 15, 2016 and discover a stray cat had given birth to four kittens in one of the goalies' bags. The players had left a window open and she had apparently crawled in. The mama cat, a pretty calico, had been hanging around in the area for a while and was sometimes in the building near the players. They estimated she had been there for up to three days.
Even more surprisingly, she was friendly and trusting when approached. Dan Klein, one of the players who found her, said he was surprised at how calm she was. Having grown up in the country, Klein had seen many mother cats and kittens, but none so trusting.

The players even took photos of themselves petting her and scratching her head while she was nursing the kittens.
One photo shows her sitting outside the bag, posing for the camera, looking very satisfied with herself.
She must have seen the way the players behaved toward her previously and decided they were trustworthy.
Fortunately, she was right. The team members loved cats and proceeded to dote on her and her kittens.
They even let her stay in the bag for two weeks until the kittens were old enough to be moved. It seems that she chose well in finding a sanctuary for her babies.
Since then, the elderly caretaker for the rink, who lives next door, has taken all five in and adopted them. A happy ending for a little family of strays.
