Dog abandoned at gas station, becomes its cutest employee

If you pull into the Shell gas station in Mogi das Cruzes, Brazil, you're bound to be greeted by its most famous and beloved employee: a black Labrador named Negao.
Life was not always so sweet for Negao, though. He was abandoned at the gas station, and owner Sabrina Plannerer spotted the dog wandering around the property. The dog was lost and too afraid to leave where he had last seen his faithless owner.

Plannerer's heart went out to this lost soul, and she convinced her husband to adopt the dog into their family.
"We adopted him immediately and got him all the care animals need," Plannerer told The Dodo. "We took him to the vet to get vaccinated and de-wormed. We bought him food, a dog house, and a leash to take him on walks."
Then, Plannerer had another idea. Negao was such a calm, friendly dog; wouldn't he do well in the customer service business? So Negao was put to work and became the official greeter at the gas station. At first, Plannerer worried about how Negao would handle the influx of customers, but it turns out she had nothing to fear.
"Negão waits for people to arrive, and then goes up to say hello, winning them over with his charms," Plannerer said. "Customers love him. Some people even bring him toys."
Like other employees, Negao receives breaks where he gets to take a walk around the area.
Recently, Negao was chosen to be the face of a local Brazilian animal charity called Grupo FERA. This group works to pair homeless dogs with businesses if the dog is unable to find a permanent home.
"It's been sensational, encouraging people to have more respect for animals," said a spokesperson from Grupo FERA. "And workers enjoy having the companionship of a four-legged colleague."
