Adorable Beagle plots her escape from shelter and gets totally busted

The staff at the Isle of Wight County animal shelter wondered how such a lovely young beagle ended up as a stray and brought in to them. But within a few short hours of housing the Beagle they named Buttermilk, it became apparent how this dog ended up wandering the streets.
It turns out that Buttermilk is a bit of an escape artist...or a wannabe one, anyway. She was caught on video crawling up the front of her kennel and climbing over the top before she realized that the gig was up. After a few seconds of staring at the person filming her seemingly in disbelief, Buttermilk slowly climbed back down into her kennel.

The staff at the Isle of Wight noted on their Facebook page that "For some strays, we can only assume how they come into our care... however lately Buttermilk has shown staff just how she probably ended up with us. Whoever adopts this cutie is going to need to keep a regular eye on her! She may be tiny but she is MIGHTY and has super climbing powers!"
Indeed whoever is lucky enough to adopt Buttermilk might need a stockade fence and some strong locks on the doors. This dog is willing to climb anything if she has a mind to get out and about!
The shelter wanted to be sure that everyone knew that Buttermilk did not suffer any harm from her misadventure. They stated, "Buttermilk was not harmed in any way from her climb and staff gave her a prompt exam afterwards."
Additionally, the shelter said, "She also was moved into a different style kennel to prevent her from continuous climbs and escapes. Her stay won't be long in that kennel as she does in fact have an approved adopter who will be picking her up after her spay surgery this week!"
Congratulations to Buttermilk on her new home! Hopefully, she will realize how good she's got it and stay put. Watch the video of Buttermilk's thwarted escape attempt below, then share her story with your family and friends on Facebook.
