Women find scared tiny pup under their car and go to great lengths to get her out

It was hot in Los Angeles, and a tiny, fluffy, white dog had taken shelter under a parked car. When the two ladies who had parked the car there saw her, they weren't sure what to do. Obviously, they couldn't move the car. But the puppy refused to come out. What were they to do?
They put in a call to Hope For Paws, an animal rescue who knew just how to approach timid, frightened dogs like this one. The ladies who made the call waited patiently for more than an hour for HFP to arrive. In all this time, the little dog didn't budge.

When volunteers from the rescue arrived, they quickly put up a portable fence around the car, so just in case the pup decided to bolt, she couldn't get far.
All the while, the tiny dog watched, worried, and waited.
Using a specially designed leash with a long, stiff handle, a volunteer reached under the car, trying to lasso the frightened puppy's head.
But she was so small, she slipped right through the loop.
Then one of them stretched up under the car and gently brought the dog out. The little dog didn't growl, whimper, or snap, but she was still plenty afraid.
In the quiet hands of the handler, she settled down and accepted being carried off to the shelter.
After a warm bath and a good toweling, she fluffed right up and quickly overcame her hesitance. Yes, she decided, being petted and cared for was a lot better than being under the car on that hot pavement. In fact, she was so happy, she immediately started playing as any puppy would.
Watch this video to see how "America" (the pup's new name) is doing. Shelters around the country have an abundance of puppies and grown dogs, kittens and cats who all need good homes. Are you looking for a new pet? Check your local shelter first! Most of them operate at least partly on donations from people like you, so if you can't take a new furbuddy into your home for the holidays, maybe you can donate so more homeless pets can be rescued.
