Heartbroken kitty was the very last at the shelter and managed to touch the heart of someone

Imagine being a tiny, orphaned kitten, alone in a shelter where all the other cats have been adopted, and you're left behind. That was the case for a minuscule, white kitten in a local Humane Society shelter a few months back.
Luckily for her, her future forever human walked in that day to make a donation. All Rhiannon saw were empty cages...until she noticed a tiny bit of fluff at the very end that emitted a wee, little mew that touched her heart.

When Rhiannon walked back to see what was in that last cage, she came face-to-face with the sweetest little kitten she'd ever seen, and her heart just melted. Winnie, the tiny kitten, was orphaned when her feral mother was brought in to have her kittens and then died last October. The staff raised little Winnie, but no one seemed to want to adopt her. She was so lonely.
"I love cats and have been wanting one for years, so I finally took that plunge after my family agreed," Rhiannon related. She was simply drawn in by Winnie's beautiful if slightly crossed, eyes.
Although Winnie cried piteously when Rhiannon left the room to start the adoption process, she was a bit unsure when she finally got home. A stack of books in a corner allowed the kitten, who had only known the confines of the cage, a feeling of safety.
It didn't take long for her to decide that not only was she safe, but maybe she'd died and gone to heaven! In a matter of a few short hours, she blossomed into what she was meant to be: the queen of the household.
When Rhiannon took little Winnie home, something marvelous happened. A bond was formed that warms the heart and makes us believe that fairy tales do, indeed, come true, even if they're only the dreams of a tiny, unwanted kitten.
