This soldier has the best traveling companion, a loyal kitty who hasn't left her side in four years

It can be hard and lonely being in the military. There isn't a lot of room for things that might tie you down to any one place. Serving in the Army, Julie Cordes found herself constantly on the move from state to state. She had little time or space for a four-legged companion.
So, when her daughter gave her a gray tabby kitten named Sophie, born around Valentine's Day, in spring 2014, Julie was skeptical at first. She'd never been particularly fond of cats and a pet didn't fit into her peripatetic job very well.

Little did Julie know that Sophie was about to change her heart furever.
In the past four years, while moving to four different states, Sophie has become Julie's closest companion. She knows how to cheer Julie up when her cat mom is down and she has become a seasoned traveler who rides in a car as happily as any dog.
Julie readily admits that Sophie has taught her many lessons, not only about loving animals more, but also about patiently enduring life's little slings and arrows.
Sophie helps her pack for each new voyage and settle in to every new place.
Julie has gone from wondering how she could possibly fit a pet, let alone a cat, into her life to wondering how she could possibly do without such a companion. Sophie is now an indispensable part of Julie's family.
