Dogs and cats have a long history of not getting along. Cats love to run and dogs love to chase. Pit bulls especially have a bad reputation with cats – often not being able to live peacefully with them. But for one rescue pit bull named Gypsy, that was far from the truth.
When Gypsy’s family rescued a homeless three-week-old kitten named Barnabas, Gypsy immediately bonded and fell in love with him. Barnabas was extremely sick and even had to be bottle-fed. According to Little Things, Gypsy seemed to know Barnabas was ill and would actually act like Barnabas’s mother – even cleaning him like a mother cat would.

Gypsy’s family was not nervous at all about introducing Gypsy and Barnabas – especially since Gypsy had already been so amazing with their other animals, baby chickens included! Barnabas was eventually nursed back to health, thanks in part to Gypsy.
The pair have been inseparable ever since.
Gypsy even allows Barnabas to crawl all over him and grab and play with his ears. They love to cuddle on the couch together and take their window watching very seriously.

While dogs – pit bulls especially – have a bad reputation with cats, Gypsy is trying to shatter that myth. Gypsy proves that you shouldn’t judge a dog by how they look or by their breed. Barnabas and Gypsy proves that love knows no boundaries – or species.
