Dog sits along for car ride, but everything changes when her favorite song comes on the radio

The famous Carnegie Hall hosted the debut in 1980 of a musical performance for 23 voices. What was different about it was that Howl was written for three of those voices to be canine. If the producers of that show had met this dog, they might have included him in their repertoire.
In this engaging video, a black and white dog sits in the front seat of his owner’s car, enjoying the ride and looking out the window. Then Mom turns the radio on and the fun starts. With head thrown back in obvious delight, the dog opens up with a stirring rendition of his own version of the song playing. Mom giggles and starts to sing along, too, but Pup’s voice drowns hers out. Mom plays percussion on the steering wheel and tries to get a note in edgewise, but her four-legged buddy has center stage.

As they continue down the road with Pup howling—er, singing, the music seems to energize Mom into trying to sing louder. Then Pup does something unexpected. Instead of howling, he starts singing “words,” opening and closing his mouth with little barks, moans and yelps that sound for all the world like he’s trying to sing the lyrics.
Research corroborates the idea that dogs do, indeed, seem to like music. But like their human counterparts, they have preferences. Hard rock music will elicit howls and classic music evokes quiet and calm behavior, but it’s a toss up on whether or not canines like to sing along with pop music.
