Family discovers tiny 'kitten' on the streets, but soon learns what it really is

If that looks like a too-tiny-to-be-true kitten to you, you're not the only one! When a family discovers this little tiny thing on the road, they called Wildlife Friends Foundation Thailand (WFFT) for help.
The Wildlife Friends Foundation Thailand assists with rescuing hurt or neglected animals. They serve to offer a safe haven for all furry critters.

Once the family got there, however, they discovered it wasn't a kitten!
At least, not exactly.
Do you have a guess for what it may be?

It turns out this was a barely two-day old fishing cat kitten, which is listed as a vulnerable species in Thailand. They began trying to piece together how it got to the side of the road, and what they could do.

After asking around, they found out that he was accidentally lost by him mom while she was moving the kittens shortly after giving birth. They tried to leave the little one (now named Simba) in a box where they found him to see if she would come back. Unfortunately, she didn't, and little Simba was getting cold and hungry, so they rushed him back to the WFFT hospital.

If you're wondering about the name, fishing cats do indeed have an affinity to water! According to the San Diego Zoo, they're built for swimming - they even have webbed toes, which help them swim and walk across muddy wetlands without sinking.
