Camera captures the moment dog realizes his family is leaving him at the shelter

There are moments when you feel like you can see into the soul of another living being, where you do not need words because the emotions are palpable and raw. This video below of a dog, Electra, who is left behind by her owners at a shelter in May 2017 is like that. Her eyes show her sadness and pain that wrench at your heart.
Dogs are very loyal and give unconditional love. Being rejected and left behind is difficult for a human being, but for dogs, it can be devastating. Electra cowers and the position of her ears and body show the fear and loneliness she feels.

What makes this video so heartbreaking is the genuine heartache you sense in her abandonment. You can feel the betrayal in Electra's movements, and in her face, as she struggles to move forward in her life, both figuratively and literally.
While a human can mask their true feelings by putting up a brave front in dealing with a terrible situation, Electra can't help but show raw emotion in her emptiness that can pull at anyone's heartstrings.
There is a happy ending to this story though since her initial abandonment. A new family has adopted Electra, giving her a second chance for a forever home.
The video below captured the hearts of so many people, and hopefully inspired others to go out and adopt dogs that have experienced the same abandonment, betrayal and loneliness that Electra did when being left behind by a family that she loved.
Be warned that watching this video may break your heart, as you realize that this has happened to countless other dogs beyond Electra who have been abandoned.

To save a dog's life, all you have to do is share.
