Dog saved from farm using her as meat. Here's the moment she was pet for the first time

Unfortunately, not every story has a happy beginning. Fortunately, though, this story has a happy ending. Some other countries have different customs around animals, and in Korea, it's a little more normal to eat dog meat. It doesn't make it any less sad, though.
Thankfully, 64 dogs in total were rescued from a Korean meat farm and brought to San Francisco SPCA to rehabilitate them. They had never been outside of their cages, been allowed to play, or even been pet before. This is the special moment where one of the dogs gets her first belly rub:

You can definitely tell she's scared, but also just thankful to be shown kindness for the first time. She's clearly had a traumatic start to life, but we're so glad she's being cared for now.

Thankfully, eating dog meat is not very common in Korea. According to The Spruce, somewhere between 5 and 30% of Korean people have tried it once, but only a very small percentage eat it regularly. There is a large group of Koreans against it, for various reasons, but it's also seen as part of their culture, because it has a long historical presence.
It's a complicated topic, but we can't help but smile when we see these precious dogs happy and getting love for the first time. Don't forget to watch the video to see their wagging tails and happy, sleepy faces!
