Kylo Ren was a sweet 10-month-old pit bull when he first arrived at the West Memphis Animal Shelter in Tennessee. Alive Rescue Memphis took him in to foster him and find him his forever home. But it took a long time. This puzzled everyone, since Kylo was so loveable. Nobody could understand why no one would want him.
Meghan Sweers and her husband already had a Corgi, Nellie, when Meghan spotted Kylo on Facebook in March 2016. They weren't sure at first if they absolutely wanted to take him in, so they decided to do a four-hour trial visit with Kylo and a volunteer from Alive Rescue Memphis for a skeptical Nellie.

As soon as Kylo arrived, Meghan and her husband knew he was a keeper. The very first thing he did after the volunteer left was fall asleep in her lap and begin to snore. Clearly, he felt at home with them. Even Nellie liked Kylo. They immediately adopted him.

At first, Meghan's family and friends were skeptical. They thought pit bulls were vicious.

This attitude was probably something that had worked against him at Alive Rescue Memphis. But Kylo soon won them over – by sitting on them and cuddling.

Kylo has some quirks (such as leaping from rug to rug in the house because he hates hardwood floors).

And he loves to take his meals in his crate.

But his most remarkable one is his tendency to hug his new mom every chance he gets. When she's home, every time she sits down, he wants to cuddle.

He also likes to sleep in people's laps, which is quite the feat considering his size.

After being unwanted so long, Kylo has become a truly paw-pular dog.
