Dog's remarkable reaction to her cancer test results captured on camera

Lily is a Golden Retriever who lives with her people in Kailua, Oahu, Hawaii. One day, seemingly from out of nowhere, this beautiful dog got sick. She was so sick, she could hardly stand and her breathing was labored. The veterinarian discovered she had a tumor on her spleen that was causing her to bleed internally. Without a blood transfusion, she would be dead in hours. The tumor was hemangiosarcoma, a common and deadly cancer in Golden Retrievers.
Surgery was necessary to save her life—but even with surgery, it would probably only buy her a few more months. Their one hope was that it was benign. However, in 20 years of emergency veterinary medicine, the vet had never seen it come out that way. There was only a 10% chance that it was the case with Lily. Her people decided they wouldn’t give up on her, and they emptied their savings account and went ahead with the surgery.

The tumor was huge—6 pounds! After it was removed, it was sent to pathology to determine if it was benign or cancerous. Lily’s humans held their breath waiting for the results. The vet cautioned them that even though Lily seemed so much better, if it was malignant, she would succumb to the cancer in a few months. They advised that they get ready to say goodbye.
Lily did well with her surgery and recovery, but waiting for the results was a nightmare.
Her people loved her so much, and hated the thought that she could soon be gone for good.
After a long, long week went by, the results came back—BENIGN! Lily had beaten the odds! The last thing to do was tell Lily.
“Well, Lily,” said her mom, “you know that you had a tumor removed. Now I have the results.”
She told Lily to sit down for this, and beautiful Lily did. When she reiterated what the vet had told here, it looks like Lily is anxious for the results. And then she said the words…
“It’s NOT CANCER!” Mom tells Lily, and Lily rejoices.
Now here’s the real kicker. Lily’s people made enough money from this video that they were able to pay for treatment for their other dog, Lily’s lifelong friend, Copper. He was diagnosed with lymphoma and given 2 months to live. Because they were able to provide treatment for him, he lived another happy 8 months before passing away with Lily at his side.
People will do a lot to save their beloved pets. What would you have done? When you watch this video, you can see the gratitude in Lily as she listens to the best news she could have had. If it brings tears to your eyes, don’t worry about it. It brought tears to mine, too.
