Plumbers spot dog on side of the road with mouth taped shut. Dog couldn't stop wagging its tail after rescue

What was supposed to be an ordinary work day for two plumbers from Robertson, Texas, became anything but. As they were driving to a job, they turned down a country road only to see a strange figure struggling in a ditch.
At first, the plumbers drove by because they weren't sure what the figure was. Then, they went back to double-check and were shocked by what they found.

"We didn't know he was a dog at first," Carlos Carrillo told The Dodo. "We reversed and saw him."
What they found took their breath away. In the ditch was a dog who had been left there to die a long, agonizing death. The dog's muzzle had been duct-taped shut and his legs were tied up with medical tubing. Carrillo and his colleague cut the dog free at once.
"He seemed OK," said Carrillo. "He was very loving and liked the attention. He was probably just there for a day or so."
The men loaded the dog into their truck and took him to Peewee's Pet Adoption, a no-kill shelter located nearby. The dog was so grateful for his rescue that he wagged his tail. "Look at that face," said Carrillo. "He knows he was saved!"
The veterinarians at the shelter determined that the dog was in good shape except that he was heartworm positive and would need to undergo long-term treatment. But despite this setback, the dog was happy to be alive and was willing to shower his gratitude on everyone he encountered.
"His tail won't stop wagging," a spokesperson at the shelter told The Dodo. "He's such a sweetheart."
Although the person who left this dog to die a cruel death will probably never be caught, at least there is a happy ending for the dog. This lucky pup was recently adopted from Peewee's Pet Adoption, and we're hoping that his new owner treats him with the love and respect he deserves.
