Security camera catches the moment a cat rescues little boy from dog attack

Cats aren't always given the same credit as dogs when it comes to being loyal and heroic. But in the case of one cat's defense of her autistic friend, the credit is entirely due, as shown in the video below.
In May of 2014, security cameras caught footage of 4-year-old Jeremy Triantafilo, who was riding his bike in his driveway, being attacked by a neighbor's dog. The dog came around the Triantafilo's parked vehicle and attacked Jeremy from behind, biting his leg, dragging him from his bike, and shaking him from side to side.

In mere moments, Tara, the family cat, races out to the dog and slams her body into it. And if that's not enough, the cat proceeds to chase the dog off the property before returning to Jeremy to make sure he was unhurt. Her young owner did need to have eight stitches, but his injuries were no worse than that.
The video of Tara's heroic bravery went viral and earned her the SPCA Los Angeles' Hero Dog award, which, for the first time, was awarded to a cat.
Madeline Bernstein, president of the SPCALA, said, "We were so impressed by Tara's bravery and fast action that the selection committee decided that a cat this spectacular should be the National Hero Dog."
Roger Traintafilo, Jeremy's father, remarked that "It's pretty amazing to see just a cat take on a dog and selflessly put herself out there. That dog did not even know what hit him."
Jeremy refers to Tara as "my hero," and the bond between the two has grown even stronger. Tara's heroic defense of Jeremy has prompted the family to start Hero Cat LLC with the design of promoting ethical pet ownership and autism disorder.
