15-year-old cat was found on the streets, meets a vet that changes his life

Elderly cats often need more medical care and TLC than younger cats, so it's not uncommon for senior kitties to find themselves abandoned on the street or surrendered to shelters when their owners tire of them or can't afford their treatment. That's apparently what happened to Barnaby, a 15-year-old cat found on the streets of Voorhees, New Jersey, who was brought into busy Voorhees Animal Orphanage.
Barnaby was skinny and scruffy, going blind and had a half-chewed ear. His appetite was poor. But his gentle, cheerful disposition soon won over the orphanage staff. They were sad he might have to live out his days at an animal shelter because no one wanted to take on his care.

Fortunately, Barnaby found the purrfect forever home – a veterinarian's office. Veterinarian Ed Sheehan and his wife, Clare, in nearby Camden run the Sheehan Veterinary Centre. When they discovered a post about Barnaby on the orphanage's Facebook page in the spring of 2017, they realized he was a kitty who'd need a lot of care. They offered to take him in, and on May 14, Save a Senior Sunday, they did.
This was the result.
Since then, Barnaby has proven his worth at the vet practice. He loves head rubs and adds his own special charm to the center. Savoring his new senior food, he's gained almost a pound and looks better than he has for a long time. When he doesn't want to eat, he gets spoon-fed.
In just a few months, Barnaby went from lost soul to elder statesman. He's now a very proper cat. Hopefully, other homeless senior cats will soon find their forever homes, too.
