Lady had to say goodbye to her elderly cat. The same day, she meets a new friend

Kirsten Seeger, a volunteer at Stray Cat Alliance in Los Angeles, CA, had just put her 15-year-old cat to sleep in the morning when she was asked to take another cat from the rescue to the vet. Champion was a little eight-year-old, Siamese long-hair who had been picked up in a trap-neuter-rescue operation in south Los Angeles in late Fall 2016 (see video below).
The trapper had realized he wasn't feral and decided the rescue would try to adopt him out instead. Since feral cats' lives are often hard, TNR organizations try to adopt out any who are strays rather than feral, or ferals who are friendly enough to be socialized.

Champion himself had been cold and sick when he was picked up and spent Christmas at the shelter. That day, he still had some skin problems, so Kirsten was taking him to the dermatologist. On the drive over, Champion kept trying to escape his carrier for some head rubs. Eventually, she let him out and gave him a belly rub, which he happily accepted.

At the vet, he was so friendly with Kirsten that the vet initially thought he was hers.

Kirsten said no, but the vet noted that Champion appeared to feel differently. The vet was right. A week later, Champion was living with Kirsten, her two other cats, and her Pomeranian dog.

He is now renamed Sergio.

He is no longer skinny or sick because he has found his forever home.

And Kirsten has found a cat angel who is helping her get over the death of her beloved older cat.
