It’s often said that dog owners who introduce a new baby – or even another animal – to the mix tend to end up with a jealous resident dog. And that's exactly what happened to a family with a dog named Ginger.
Ginger, an adopted pup, was the only pet for five years. Though she enjoyed being the only dog – and getting all the attention – she (reluctantly) accepted it when they added a new dog to the family.
But when the family had a baby girl two years after that, Ginger became a little jealous.
When Ginger was an only pup, anything her humans brought home would be hers. But now, she has to share.
And Ginger isn’t a fan of sharing.
“Ginger is very jealous of anything that the baby owns or plays with and steals her toys all the time,” Ginger’s mom, Amy, said.
Amy’s sister recently bought her new niece a cat balloon. But as soon as the balloon made it into the house, Ginger made it her life’s mission to steal this cat balloon.
It took her nearly a week, but she was finally successful.
And what did Ginger do when she finally got a hold of the balloon?
Take it for a stroll around the yard, of course.
“The first time she made it out the door, she was running around the yard with the cat balloon trailing behind her,” Amy said.
After some time, it became clear that Ginger and the cat balloon shared quite the bond. The helium-filled toy quickly became Ginger’s best friend.
Although the balloon technically isn’t Gingers, her baby sister doesn’t seem to mind all that much. After all, who wouldn't love watching a small pup prance around the yard holding a cat balloon in her mouth?
