What started out as a family camping trip, quickly turned into a cat rescue mission (8 photos)

When Michael S. and his son went on a recent family camping trip, they brought home much more than adventures and memories. On this occasion, the father and son brought home a few four-legged friends who unexpectedly crashed their camp, looking for food and a little loving care.
Michael and his son have a regular camping spot, but when they arrived there this time, someone had already grabbed the site: a brown and gray tabby cat.

"When we arrived there was a cat. It was quite skinny and obviously abandoned," Michael said via his Imgur account.
His son took to the cat right away, but was worried about getting food for the cat to eat. "My son gets to work trying to catch some blue gill to feed the cat since we only brought enough food for dinner and breakfast," Michael explained.
The attention and care they gave to the cat made quite the impression on her, and she made herself a permanent part of their camp. "I am struggling to not trip over (her) while I gather wood," Michael stated on his Imgur page.
After dinner, their new friend disappeared. Michael and his son went to bed, only to wake up to see the cat — and her kittens. "A couple hours later I wake up to some noise and go outside to check. Now instead of two eyes staring at me I see eight glowing eyes reflecting the light from my phone," Michael said.
The tabby cat knew that these two people would care as much for her babies as they had for her. The cat's intuition was right, as Michael and his son got to work getting enough food for their new additions.
"The next morning we caught over 13 blue gill and a couple catfish. Let's just say by the end of the day the momma cat was stuffed," Michael reported.
"There is no way this cat was not domesticated the way she craves human attention," Michael said. He and his son decided they couldn't leave the cat and her kittens behind, so the entire feline family came home with them.
All the cats were spayed or neutered a short while after they began living in Michael's home. Initially, Michael's family was going to keep the entire cat family, but one of their good friends had recently lost a cat, so the mother cat and her striped "mini-me" kitten went to live with them.
Michael's family kept the remaining two kittens. He was worried that the established family cat, ClownBoy, might not get along with the new arrivals, but he was pleasantly surprised. "Clown started to warm up to them after a day or two. He has seemed to have taken them in as his own. I'm so happy about this! As you can see he is a king," Michael said.
All's well that ends well, and this mother cat was smart enough to walk into the right camp. Now she and all her babies have loving, forever homes.
