Everyone knows what it feels like to be the new kid or to have some quality that makes them different from everyone else. It's lonely, isn't it? This gorgeous cockatoo obviously feels left out, so he decides that if he can't do the walk, he can at least talk the talk. It's less obvious what these three cats must be thinking because they really don't know what to do with the bird!
In the bird world, cockatoos have a reputation for being the most cuddly of all the parrots. But one thing to know about them is that they give exactly what they get. And in this case, what he is getting is lots of meowing, so he returns the favor!
This bird has his crest raised while he "talks" to the cats. In the wild, a raised crest usually signals emotions, intentions or a warning about predators. And the funny thing is, cats are usually predators.
One of the cats moves slightly toward the cockatoo, and the bird quickly backtracks. Then he hisses at the cat, and it does the trick. Makes you wonder if he has seen the cats hiss at each other.
Then the bird decides to greet the smallest cat. This kitten isn't taking any chances, even though the bird is speaking his language! He quickly backs away.
Raising his crest again, the cockatoo struts his stuff, perhaps trying to win the approval of the cats like he would if he was courting a potential mate. You have to admit, he's pretty impressive.
The whole time the cockatoo is trying to join the cat gang, he keeps meowing. There are only two problems. One, he doesn't know what he's saying. Maybe he has learned some bad words in cat language! And two, he doesn't look anything like a cat, no matter how much he fluffs and struts.
