Right before Christmas, two homeless kittens were found outside of an apartment in Brooklyn, New York. It was freezing cold and they were searching for whatever scraps of food they could find. Two compassionate people saw the kittens and contacted Infinite Hope, a rescue group, who would take them in and make sure that these bonded siblings stay together forever.
Michelle, an Infinite Hope volunteer, was on hand to rescue the kittens. "The kittens wouldn't come that close to people on the street, so I went with another TNR volunteer and we used humane traps to catch the kittens. It was after we caught them that we realized that their faces look different," Michele said.

It turns out that both kittens, a male named Daktyl and a female named Morela, were born with chromosomal abnormalities that give their faces unique character but which will not impact their health at all.

Daktyl, an orange-colored cat, has entropion, an eye condition where the eyelid rolls inward toward the eye. On the streets, he was in pain and discomfort all the time due to this medical issue. Daktyl came to rely on his sister, Morela, and she became very protective of her brother.

Through Infinite Hope, Daktyl and Morela were placed with a loving foster family. Daktyl saw a veterinarian right away, and sutures were put in his eyelid to keep it in place. He had to wear a cone for a while afterward until the eye had healed.

The two siblings are very bonded to each other. Daktyl is shy, so Morela is the one who bravely cares for her brother. "The fact that they were as mellow as they were makes us think that they may have been indoors initially and then put out on the street," Michelle explained.

Morela cares for and snuggles with her brother all the time. Daktyl feels safe with his sister nearby. "He is definitely comforted by being with his sister and we are planning to adopt them as a pair," said Michelle.

Until they are adopted, these two cute kittens will remain with their foster family. If you are interested in giving Morela and Daktyl a home, contact Infinite Hope for more details.

Hopefully, this brother and sister will have a forever home soon! Share their sweet story with your friends and family on Facebook.
