Pit bulls get a bad rap, but this black and white pit bull mix shows just how sweet natured they can be. Mallory was found wandering in a trailer park in May 2017, apparently without owners. The Broome County Dog Shelter in Binghamton, New York, took her in and gave her shelter, care, and lots of love.
A degenerative retina disease has left her nearly blind, but she doesn't let that interfere with her loving personality. She loves people—all people—and if it were up to her, she would be meeting new ones constantly. But what she really wants is a home of her own.
Laura Montelione says that Mallory is a favorite at the shelter. Their Facebook page shows a "goofy" dog who loves to have fun and isn't particularly bothered by her blindness. Despite only seeing shadows, she is as playful and agile as any other dog in the facility. Unfortunately, no one seems to want to take the chance on her.
Since Mallory was rescued, 106 other dogs from the shelter have found homes. When Christmas came, the group made a special Christmas card featuring the friendly dog, but no one claimed her. Then they switched the campaign up to try and get her adopted first in 2018. Well into January now, Mallory still lives at the shelter.
The ideal forever home for Mallory would be a place where she could be the only dog. A fenced-in yard, a soft bed, and a ball to play with would make it perfect. But the most important thing is a family that will give her the same kind of love that she happily pours out on everyone she meets. She is fond of children and never met a stranger. Someone donated half her adoption fee already, so now she's just waiting for the right person to come and take her home.
