Stunt man and former star of early 2000s hit Jackass, Steve-O, was in Peru recently, learning how to climb mountains as part of the YouTube Red web-series Ultimate Expedition. As an animal activist, one of his goals was to do the climb with a street dog he found in the country.
Things started off slowly when every dog he encountered ran away from him. But then he met a sweet black-and-tan pup with a white throat he named Wendy. She accepted his kibble and was very friendly.
Sadly, Steve-O had to go shoot a scene in a building where dogs weren’t allowed and had to leave her behind. He didn't expect to see her again.
To his surprise, she showed up later that night at a restaurant where he was eating dinner. And she had brought all of her street friends. Though shy before, they happily accepted pats and belly rubs now.
Steve-O tried to sneak her into his hotel, but dogs weren't allowed. So, he compromised on giving her a bath and sleeping out in the courtyard in a tent with her.
The next day, he took her to the local vet for an exam, shots and another bath. Wendy got a clean bill of health. Steve-O then did a short video with her, detailing how they met.
Since then, she has filmed the entire series with him. Steve-O has now adopted her and says they will continue to travel the world together.
