Ty, a bull terrier, began to destroy things around his family's home due to frustration and boredom. Instead of trying to improve Ty's living situation, his owners decided to keep him locked up in a crate all the time. For years, Ty wasn't allowed to run or play as a dog should. Eventually, his owners realized that he could not continue to live in this way, so they surrendered him to the RSPCA of England & Wales.
Cara Gibbon, an RSPCA officer, picked Ty up from his owners and brought him to the Coventry, Nuneaton and District Branch shelter. She could tell right away that Ty had not been able to run and burn off energy in a long time. “This poor boy was confined to a crate 24/7,” Gibbon said. “I took him down to the dog run at the rehoming center so he could run free.”

And run he did! Ty ran through the leaves, raced along the perimeter of the fenced-in area, and bounded happily toward Gibbon, tongue lolling. Watch the video of his first run and share in Ty's happiness!

“He looked really happy and his tail was wagging nineteen to the dozen,” Gibbon said. “It was lovely to see him enjoying the freedom and fresh air.”
Ty had fun playing with toys and stretching his legs. He was thrilled to be able to run and play like a dog should.

Gibbon was hopeful that Ty, a seven-year-old, would soon find a new owner who would give him the life he deserves.

“Hopefully we’ll be able to find him the paw-fect home where he’ll be able to run, explore and play games with his new garden — and where he’ll never be locked in a cage again,” Gibbon said.

We're glad to report that it looks like Ty has recently been adopted! Hopefully, Ty's new owner will appreciate his loving nature and treat him well. Share Ty's story with your friends and family on Facebook.
