Baby deer seek shelter in woman's home from storm

As the storm approached her rural home, Imgur user Amscolie walked around her house to secure the latches on her windows, then stepped outside the back door to check on the three baby deer she had been rehabbing. As a licensed wildlife rehabilitator, Amscolie had fed and cared for these fawns for weeks, and she wanted to be sure they were safe before the storm began. However, as Amscolie walked around her backyard, she couldn't find any trace of the deer.
Confused, Amscolie walked back into her house, only to see that her three fawns were a few leaps and bounds ahead of her. Animals have an uncanny knack for knowing when rough weather is coming in, and they are often the first creatures to seek out shelter well before the raindrops start falling. Whether they can better sense temperature or air pressure changes or can hear storms coming in from far away, animals know when to find shelter. These deer knew what was happening and figured that the house was the safest and driest place to hide.

Apparently, the back door that Amscolie has exited through never fully closed behind her. With the door ajar, the three little fawns popped it open wide enough to sneak into the house.
Amscolie explained, "I raise orphaned wildlife. Recently, the back door was open as a storm was coming. The deer were nowhere to be found. Went inside, was heading to the front door, only to see them next to an end table in the living room. Told them they could sleep in the house for the night because it was going to be nasty."
Once these fawns are healthy and old enough to live on their own, Amscolie will release them. She shares that they often continue to come back and visit as they mature. Sometimes they'll return to play with the dog or to check out the newest fawns receiving the same lifesaving, loving care that they did.

The deer continue to stop by and thank Amscolie for giving them the chance to live a happy, natural life. This rehabilitator truly cares for these beautiful creatures, and they repay her kindness with their own form of love.
