Dog gets her own room when the baby comes

Most pet owners feel as if their dog or cat is a part of the family. They often refer to themselves as Mom and Dad when talking to their pet, and they enjoy buying toys, treats and sundry items with which to spoil their furry friend.
One couple went even further to ensure the puppy knew how special she was as the household dynamics were changing. Molly the Westie had been the "only child" of Michael and Emma McGowan for several years. When they discovered a baby was on the way, The Dodo states they built Molly her own room so she wouldn't feel slighted by the presence of the new little one.

The first step was finding a location for the room. "I thought there might be dead space behind the stairs, but wasn’t sure," said Michael McGowan, who lives in Scotland. Once he determined there was plenty of space, the building process began in earnest.
McGowan enlisted the help of builder Paul McArdle for wiring and door framing. McGowan did the rest on his own, according to ABC News.
Molly's room includes mood lighting, framed pictures of her with some of her friends and a huge pillow in the corner that McGowan has dubbed the "cozy corner."
He didn't stop there, though. "Molly, still waiting patiently, has taken the new couch. ... So I bought her one for her new room," writes McGowan. The couch is filled with dog toys and a welcome mat sits in the doorway.
Just to be sure everyone knows where Molly's room is, the McGowans made a custom sign and hung it over the doorway. Right outside the room is a place for her harness and food.

The baby has arrived, and Molly is handling it well. "Honestly, Molly has been great with her. She's very gentle. She's still a young dog, so she wants to play with everybody ... but with the baby she's very, very gentle. She'll just sniff at her feet. So the space has really helped, I think," McGowan told ABC News.
There is no mistaking that Molly is greatly loved by her family.
