Chained horse gives savior biggest kiss after being saved

A group from the animal welfare organization Four Paws came across a group of horses. One of the horses appeared to be struggling. The veterinarians found the horse had been chained around the front feet, making it impossible for it to run.
Knowing the pain the chains can cause and the loss of mobility, the vets decided to help the horse and remove the chains. What happened next was a sweet expression of gratitude.

A horse is struggling
As the video begins, we see a horse attempting to run but unable to. Its front feet are chained together.
While this is a common practice in Romania to keep horses from running away, it can cause health problems, especially if the chains cut the horse’s feet. The vet’s know they have to do something.
Subduing the horse
We see Ovidiu Rosu, a vet with Four Paws International, coming on to the scene with a tranquilizer dart gun.
It’s likely they are sedating the horse to safely remove the chains. A sedative will usually make the horse sleepy, reduce the chances they get excited, and are often used for short veterinary procedures. Because removing the chains requires the Rosu to work up close to the horse and on its feet, it’s safer for everyone to have the horse sedated.
The horse’s chains
Next, we see a close up of the offending chains on the horse’s feet.
To remove the chains, Rosu must use tools to separate the links and free the horse’s feet. Once the chains are removed, we also see the impact the chains have had on the horse.
Injuries from the chains
Because of the chains on the horse’s feet, there were then lacerations.
The open wound, if left untreated, could have led to a massive infection, possibly even death. Luckily, this horse had a guardian angel in the vet’s of Four Paws International.
A show of gratitude
As the vets wait for the horse to wake up, one of the others comes over to offer a little kiss of gratitude to Rosu.
In the wild, horse herds exist in hierarchical bands, divided into stallion, mares, and offspring. While there are bonds that can be made, this demonstration of gratitude seems unique.
One happy horse
Finally, we see the horse now upright and able to move freely.
All the vets in this video work with Four Paws International, an animal welfare organization that has several campaigns for different animals, including the wild horses of Romania. Their goal is to help the horses have better health care and living conditions.
Part of this is providing education to the citizens of Romania that still use these horses to perform jobs on their farms. By providing regular veterinary treatments, hoof care, better harnesses, deworming treatments, and dental care, these horses can finally have the lives they hope for.
Much like the horse saved from foot chains, Four Paws wants to be the guardian angel for all the suffering Romanian working horses.
