Covered in fleas and pregnant, mama cat finally gets her 8 kittens into a home

Meet tortoiseshell shell cat Celeste. She was found out in the streets covered in fleas along with her 3-month-old kittens. On top of that, she was both very pregnant herself.
Luckily, she found her way to Oregon Friends of Shelter Animals, where Angela, a foster volunteer, took her in.

Once at the shelter, Celeste quickly gave birth to more babies. Angela showed immense love and brought Celeste home to foster.

Having lived on the streets, Celeste wasn't used to being taken care of. She was shy at first and needed time to warm up to the love of the new humans around her.

Slowly over time, Celeste grew more and more comfortable, thanks to all the love, warm nest, and good food. Also, the endless petting helped!
Meanwhile, Celeste hand her hands full with a litter of 8 babies.

She spent a lot of time grooming and caring for her new babies.

Celeste made sure her babies all got fed, so she'd lie on her side during feeding sessions. Meanwhile, Angela assisted and helped whenever she could to lessen the workload.

The kittens grew quickly in size.

As they got larger, they also spent more time venturing and playing away from their mom from time-to-time. For instance, the staircase!

Needless to say, Celeste was always around if her babies needed anything.

Angela writes on her Instagram, "Now that her 8 kittens are more independent, Celeste is finally able to have the time to relax and just be a cat herself. She loves to soak up and lay in the sunshine, quietly greeting me each morning and leaning into my pets."
